Bio: Medina Mahfuz
As a child it was my dream to be able to fly anywhere in the world on a magic carpet. I suppose it could be rooted inside of me, at least in part, by the fact that my family is a part of a Persian rug business that is in it’s 4th generation. So some of my earliest memories include napping, drooling & dreaming on actual oriental rugs. I have always longed to use my creativity & imagination. Whether it was directing the cast of Barbies I had put together through a number of arduous casting calls & monologues or writing screenplays for the Teddy Bear Troop featuring Fouad, my big brother, I have always let my imagination and energy get the best of me.
As I grew older I became interested in theater and used it as a means to continue to express myself. My first experiences with theater through middle school and high school perked my interest in the art so much that I went on to study Theater Education at Emerson College. Upon my graduation from Emerson in 2001, I went on to work with Company One, a Boston Based theater company. For them I acted, produced, stage managed and was the Education Program Director.
In 2003 I decided that I was going to take the education and experience I had gained over the years and attempt to start & build my own theater company. Since starting I have worked with a number of different Theater companies and Educational Programs all around New England. It has been a truly fun & rewarding experience so far. I look forward to where ever my Magic Carpet might take us next.
